Cyberpunk 2077 Takemura Food Journey: A Taste of Night City
Filled with various food options, night city is a wonderful place for the players to explore all kinds of food from different cultural backgrounds, such as Chinese, western, and also, Japanese food. The adventure “Gimme Danger” with the key character Takemura is strewn with the fun in food hunting as well. Let’s have a look at some food hunt episodes with our good buddy, Takemura!
Key Takeaways
- The conversations in “Gimme Danger” are full of funny exchanges about Takemura’s food tastes and living styles.
- Takemura’s missent searches after the mission adds even more depth to the build-up of this character.
Cyberpunk 2077 Takemura’s missent searches
In Cyberpunk 2077, Takemura is one of the key characters that the player will go on the game journey with. After the mission “Gimme Danger”, Takemura will missend his searches about the food he wants to try to your phone: “Good yakitori night city”, “Tempura night city cheap”, “Udon night city”, “Tasty ramen”, “Is there anything to eat in this wasteland?” As the tone escalates in these searches, the player can almost feel Takemura’s desperation in finding good Japanese food in this city.
It’s an interesting conversation when you can choose to reply either “Goro, you can’t find anything because you’re sending your searches to me as messages!!”, or to make fun of his mistake by saying directly that “I can give you a few pointers.” (Though it’s another story whether Takemura will take V’s advice seriously, since V is a layman in Japanese food, loll.)

What do those food look like in real life?
The searches only involve some classic Japanese food. Here are some photos to give you a gist of what they might look like in real life. I haven’t seen Takemura mentions any other food other than the Japanese ones. Other than that, you can take a bold guess that maybe he’s favorite food is yakitori as it is his first search and he also tried that in the food stall, which will be mentioned in the next subtopic.
- Yakitori
- Tempura
- Udon
- Ramen

“Enjoy” the food with Takemura in between the missions in Cyberpunk 2077
In “Gimme Danger”, you can enjoy twice of having something to eat with Takemura, first is yakitori and then sushi and pizza.
Outside the security room, Takemura will tell you that he hasn’t had anything to eat for quite a long time, and there happens to have a Japanese food stall. He will sit down and ask the owner to give him the best on his menu. And then you will have yakitori with him at the stall and go through the mission plan there. You can choose to eat or… just talk. Takemura will take one bite and then complain it as disgusting and being made of plastics, which makes sense against the cyberpunk city settings as a high-tech but low-happiness city. At this point, I personally think that it’s ironic to finish your yakitori when Takemura hates it so much.
Another episode happens at the building top next to the Arasaka Industrial Park where you’re supposed to infiltrate. You can offer to eat Pizza and Takemura will refuse to take any takeaway food. He will start to describe if he has time, what he will cook at home. (This man certainly enjoys the solo time in cooking!) But during the wait, he eventually will bend and order takeaway with you. If you take a closer look at the takeaway box, there will be pizza and sushi in it. He is such a steadfast Japanese food lover!
Interestingly, also related to our food topic, their conversation will mention that there is not many animals left in Night City. Maybe that explains why the yakitori tastes like plastic, which can be one of the ingredients in replacing the dwindling number of chicken.

Conclusion
This article provides a snapshot of Night City’s food options and Takemura’s funny food hunt. The player will never get tired of exploring more of the Night City. I can’t wait to have my V trying out more food as well. But first thing’s first, let’s have a drink of “David Martinez“!
