One of the Most Unforgettable Jobs: Play It Safe Cyberpunk 2077 Stories and Fun Details
It is just so different… When you play through the main job of Play It Safe, all the city reveling and joy set such a contrast with other more depressing gigs. Other than the job walkthrough, this post will also offer more insights about the background stories and other fun details in the game. Not everyone reads the shards and info in Cyberpunk 2077, so this post will decipher them for you! 😘
Play It Safe Cyberpunk 2077 walkthrough and story explained
Play It Safe is a main job in Cyberpunk 2077 which comes after you abducted Anders Hellman. This is part of Takemura’s plan to reveal the truth of Saburo Arasaka‘s death. Takemura plans to infiltrate Hanako’s platform in the welcoming event and that requires your help in taking care of the three snipers and one netrunner at the venue.
The story starts from a chat with Takemura in Japan Town and he’ll run you through the details of the mission. All the rest is to wait for the parade. I must admit that the view and design of the parade is one of the most splendor scenery you can get in Cyberpunk 2077.
Takemura will guide you through the route of taking down the three snipers. It involves you going through the maintenance bridges and tunnels. But there’s no difficulty to this since the minimap on the upper right corner is quite clear about the route. However, you should expect to encounter more security personnel and drones other than the three snipers. The drones usually hover around the bridge in between. The best way would be to use quick hacks like short circuits to take down the drones.
The netrunner is actually not part of the initial plan. Oda’s presence in the netrunner room is also a surprise. In the boss fight against Oda, Takemura will ask you to show Oda mercy instead of killing him. But either way, you can take away his Jinchu-Maru katana. Jinchu means loyalty in Japanese, which is an accurate depiction of Oda’s character in the game. But Oda’s loyalty and sense of honor are debatable. V will comment after defeating Oda:
You and your fuckin’ sick sense of honor… — V

Best way to beat Oda and other security drones
In my opinion, the best way to hit Oda is through smart guns and quickhack (Cyberware Malfunction, Weapon Glitch, Cripple Movement, etc). Because the attack mode of Oda is that he will dash towards you and attack using the Mantis Blade. Or he will switch to invisible mode, making it hard to find him.
To counter his dashing and slashing, try to dodge and keep some distance from him. Because of his fast movement, it may be hard to aim using an ordinary gun. Smart weapons are better choices that can reduce your effort of aiming.
Control quickhacks can deactivate his invisibility and expose him to your aim. Cyberware Malfunction and Weapon Glitch are great ways to assist your attack as they will disrupt Oda’s attacking pace. Cripple Movement can prevent him from dashing at all.
If you can’t find him in the main hall, try to look through the containers. Usually, he will be hiding in the container, and the fire in the container will expose his whereabouts.
As to the drones that may appear near the bridge or outside the windows, the most convenient way of taking them down is to use Short Circuit. It deals massive damage and doesn’t take as much RAM as other combat quickhacks like Synapses Burnout.
What the shards tell us about the security
If you take a look around the spots of the three snipers, you will discover three shards next to their spots respectively. Compared to the high security you expect that matches Hanako’s status, the shards tell you some insider information about the arrangement of this parade.
The first sniper shard is a conversation between Mark and Kim. It tells that the project of the parade security system is subcontracted. The subcontractors aren’t doing their job well and they lag behind the schedule for the parade. Even a high-class event like the parade for Hanako Arasaka can’t escape the suffer drawbacks of corpo nepotism.

The second shard includes the conversation between Nicolas and Juberto. They talk about Oda, who seems to be a very formidable character based on the conversation. They also reveal that Oda is the head of the security for Hanako.
The third shard is between Mallory and Vicky. They complain about the tight security at this workplace, as Vicky can’t go into a cleaner place. There are restrictions on contacting former employees as well as facial recognition everywhere. These details showcase that the security of the parade is of high-level secrecy.

Some fun facts you might miss in Play It Safe Cyberpunk 2077!
Take time to enjoy the view
During the mission, if you come close to the handrail, you can stop and enjoy the view of the parade. This is a great design as you can take a moment to chill and appreciate the beautiful parade as part of your gaming experience.

Takemura tried the SCOP burger 😅
When Takemura takes you through the plan by the food stall, he will tell you that he tried the SCOP burger you recommended. If you ask him what he thinks of that, he will ask you to inquire about the people down there. The reason why he says this is that he throws the rest half of the burger down the floor. You can see him throwing it away if you approach him from the other side of the handrail before coming up to him.
If you go downstairs, you can actually find a food stall selling SCOP burger. But it disappoints me that I couldn’t find anyone commenting on the burger.

Conclusion
The job Play It Safe is a perfect sarcasm of what exactly happens when Takemura kidnaps Hanako directly at the end. As a small climax of the main jobs, Play It Safe brings the story to another phase after all the preparations and plans for Hanako Arasaka. It’s one of the jobs that can give you an adrenaline rush, not to mention its breathtaking view.
