Tropico 6 Multiplayer: Friends or Foes?
El Presidente, it’s time to spice up your island-building experience with your friends! Tropico 6 is a simulation game featuring a tropical Caribbean island planning and development. Guess what! It also supports online co-op with up to four players. This post will introduce the multiplayer mode of Tropico 6 with all of its unique features and fun! 🏝️

Tropico 6 multiplayer setup
Tropico 6 (with multiplayer mode) is a simulation game where you can develop an island from the colonial era to the modern era as the president. The game covers many aspects of island development such as building, trading, edicts, constitutions, etc. Through different eras, the game will unlock new features that are unique to that time. For example, there are only manual plantations in the colonial era, but there will be hydroponic farms in the modern era. The multiplayer mode features all the content of the single-player mode.
In the main menu, you can choose Multiplayer. Then, you can proceed to choose either to browse or create a game, as well as loading previous multiplayer game savings. In further setup, you can toggle the game into more details, such as the starting era, initial fund, and so on.
There are 15 maps you can choose from as well with large, huge, or medium-sized islands. Some are for 2 players and some for 4. Note that you will only unlock one section of the island and the remaining parts of the island will need to be unlocked in the game by using Swiss money.

Tropico 6 multiplayer speed control
The most important thing about the multiplayer mode is who gets to control the time. The answer is the host. The host can decide if the game needs to be paused, proceeded, or sped up. So talk to your friend whenever you need to change the time speed!
How to win your friend in multiplayer mode?
At the setup menu where you create the game, you can set up the winning condition. If you didn’t set any conditions at the beginning, the game will deem whoever survives as a president as the winner. In that case, if you were overthrown by rebels or lost the vote, your friend would win.

How to interact with your friends?
Stalk your friends’ islands by simply moving the map to their sections
Because all the players will be on the same map simultaneously developing the islands, you can see all the happenings on the islands by moving the map to their sections. Even when your friends are under rebel attacks, you can see the rebels and your friends’ armies attacking each other. All the buildings and structures are plain to see just like your own island. 100% visibility!
View your friends’ island profiles from the Almanac
Click Almanac and go to the last tab Conflicts, you can see your friends’ island information displayed there. The information includes Caribbean Happiness, Population, Happiness, Tourist Rating, Military Strength, and Rebel Threat.

Ask your friends for help if needed
On the foreign relationship option, you can interact with your friends diplomatically. The game allows you to ask for financial support, offer a non-aggression pact, and offer a transparency pact.
If you ask them for financial support, the friends will choose if they want to offer you $10,000. However, your friends need to have sufficient funds to offer you this amount. Non-aggression pact keeps you from invading each other. Transparency pact allows you to see the detailed information of each other’s island from the Conflicts tab.

Compete to claim more islands!
The map size is limited. Once you have enough Swiss money, don’t forget to purchase outposts. The bigger the size of the island, the more expensive it is. Different islands have different resources. Some resources can bring you higher trade income such as gold mines, uranium, and oil.
The best part of multiplayer mode in Tropico 6
In my opinion, the cooperation and time that you can enjoy the game with your friends is the best part of the multiplayer mode. Instead of solely focusing on your own island, now you get to see how your friends build them and how they’re stuck in trouble!
Multiplayer mode also makes the game easier because you can have your friends offer you financial aid when you’re deep in debt. It’s a great benefit when you need a large fund to push the development. The aid is especially helpful when you just begin the game or have rebel attacks.
Conclusion
“The more the merrier” certainly applies to Tropico 6 multiplayer mode. 🤪If you’re tired of building your island on your own, why not invite some competitions into your gameplay? While enjoying all the features from the single-player mode, you can interact with your friends diplomatically and extract some benefits for your island. It’s a smart move, El Presidente!
