In Winter Burrow demo, the main storyline is to find aunty. However, the aunty ends up being caught by the owl in order to protect the little mouse, our main character. As the official version of Winter Burrow is being released, players can now continue their journey of saving aunty from the owl’s nest! 3. Continue moving north, find Gnawtusk, and complete her quests.

After players finish finding Gnawtusk’s stash for a second time, the stash finding task for the third time will take players directly to the cutscene of rescuing aunty from the owl’s nest. Then, the little mouse will return with aunty to the winter burrow.

Meet Winter Burrow Aunty for the First Time!

Players can meet aunty for the first time after rebuilding and crossing the broken bridge. The bridge is located on the east side of the burrow. The required materials for rebuilding the bridge are: 5 Beech Planks and 5 Flax Ropes.

Aunty’s hut is right on the other side of the bridge.

Players can talk to aunty to learn new recipes and collect food from her. There is one new dialogue every day, so players need to come back and talk to her every day instead of finishing all the conversations in one day.

After a while, the game will enter a cutscene of an owl catching aunty. Then, players need to continue exploring eastward and northward to start the next phase of looking for aunty in Winter Burrow.

Finish Bufo’s Quests: Collecting Stones

Meeting and talking to Bufo is the next step in looking for aunty. Bufo is located in the northeastern direction from aunty’s hut:

Bufo will ask players to collect stones, as well as offer players new recipes for stone furniture.

Then, after finishing collecting stones for Bufo three times, Bufo will give players directions about where to find the squirrel. Players need to continue going up north to look for the squirrel Gnawtusk.

Finish Gnawtusk’s Quests: Collecting Stashes

Gnawtusk, the squirrel, is living in the northwestern area in the Shadow Pines. Players can look for her following the video below to find Gnawtusk and all three stashes.

Upon finding the last stash, players can go back and talk to Gnawtusk, and this will start a cutscene, in which the little mouse ventures to the owl’s nest and rescues the aunty. The cutscene will eventually take players back to the burrow with the injured aunty and the last stash inside a backpack.

🐭Final Question: Should I Put Rescuing Aunty in Winter Burrow as a Priority?

While there are other things to do, such as growing mushrooms, foraging, and refurnishing the house in Winter Burrow, it’d be best for players to follow the main quest first and find aunty.

The reason for prioritizing this is that finishing NPCs’ quests and looking for aunty gives players new recipes and items, which are quite essential for early survival. Bufo and Gnawtusk offer tool recipes for more advanced axes, pickaxes, shovels, and lamps. After rescuing aunty, aunty also gives advice on building plantboxes. Aunty is also crucial in furthering the quests with Moss, another NPC in the forest.

All in all, aunty won’t pass away if our players are obsessed with house building, but rescuing aunty can definitely improve the overall gaming experience and is certainly worth it!
