Ever wonder how to make passive income in The Sims 4? Here’s the answer! SNB bank in Sims 4 is a realistic mod that can greatly enhance your finance experience. This is the ultimate guide you need to know the ins and outs of this mod.

Key Takeaways

  • The mod features include a checking account for expenses, a savings account, transfer, and weekly interest return.
  • Pros: The interest return is a smart way to generate passive income.

How to install SNB Bank Sims 4

You can search for SNB bank in CurseForge and directly download and install it to the existing game, which is the simplest way. After that, launch the game and go to the game options settings to allow scripts mods. The process is similar to installing other mods. You can refer to my modelling mod post about the installation.

When you enter the game, there will be a welcome message from SNB sent to your sim, meaning that you have successfully installed it.

The next step is to check your sim’s phone where you can manage your SNB bank, including:

  • Manage Accounts
  • Transfer | S2S
  • SNBank Bills
  • Open New SNBank Account

Create your checking or savings account with SNB bank Sims 4

First things first, you need to have a new account!

Both accounts can generate interest. A checking account is mainly for expenditures, and a savings account has a minimum $100 deposit requirement but can generate a higher interest rate.

You can choose whether to spend extra money to top up your checking and savings account. Premier accounts offer a higher interest rate.

Account TypeMinimum DepositPremier CostWeekly Interest RateWeekly Interest Rate (Premier)
CheckingNone$5000.0%0.5%
Savings$100$1000 (one-time)1.0%1.5%

You can also choose if you want to create the account as a shared account with others. But I do not expect any townies in the shared account will bank in money autonomously…

What’s more, one great feature of SNB Bank Sims 4 is that you can set up direct deposit. The money you earn in the game will directly be banked into your account at the percentage you set. So you do not need to manually transfer the money into savings every time.

Transfer funds to other townies

There are two different situations for transferring: First, the townie does not have an SNB bank account; second, the townie has one.

For townies who don’t have an account: The transfer page will only show their household funds which you can transfer to from any one of your accounts or even household funds.

For townies who have an account: You can choose which account you want to transfer to. Unfortunately, this mod will not randomize your townies to create their own accounts autonomously. So this situation only happens when you play that townie and create accounts for them.

Earn interest from your accounts

Your account will start to generate interest based on the weekly interest rate. Premier accounts will have a higher rate. (Sadly, it’s not as high as the current UK/US interest rate.)

However, it is still a way for the players to generate more funds with the existing funds. There will be a notification sent to you weekly about how much interest you get from each account. In my case, it took me a bit longer than 7 days to receive the first return, but there will be a notification about the interest.

This mod feature definitely adds more fun and realistic shades to the game. Compared with transferring, interest generating and direct deposit are more useful and practical for gameplay. It is one more layer of gaming experience on top of the base game.

Claim your checking account bank card

Another cool feature of this mod is that you can claim a checking account bank card. Click to manage your checking account and choose to order a debit/credit card. The SNB bank card will then be delivered to your mailbox.

This card allows you to set all your expenditures to be deducted from the card (checking account) instead of household funds. The card does not really offer more features that are not covered by the SNB bank app.

It does not affect your management of bank accounts without this card. From my perspective, this card is more like a souvenir to keep. The real-life bank card design seems like a glitch from the Sims world.

FAQs

How do you open an SNB bank in Sims 4?

To open a bank account, you need to click on the phone and the SNB bank icon. You can open an account through “Manage Accounts” or “Open New SNBank Account”.

How can I open a bank account in SNB?

You can click on the SNB app on your sim’s phone and choose to open a new account. Then you will have the option to choose whether you want the checking or savings account, and whether you want the premier version or not.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the SNB bank mod is a nice addition to a realistic gaming experience because it adds more real-life bank features to The Sims 4. It allows you to have more freedom to manoeuvre and adjust each sim’s or townie’s fund instead of only having one household fund for everyone.

Yet, it makes you wonder——”What’s next?” The mod does not build up more related interactions other than allowing the fund distribution. The debit card also does not offer more special features for the gameplay on top of the app. Other than that, it will certainly make every player happy to see the interest return!
