Graveyard Keeper 2 Inventory Guide: How to Get More Slots
Inventory space becomes a problem quickly in Graveyard Keeper 2. The player needs to carry tools, crafting materials, food, potions and quest items while travelling between the Yard and Town. Fortunately, several bags and one Smithing perk can increase carrying capacity. Mods also offer alternatives for players who want to spend less time managing their inventory. Let’s have a closer look at these options!
How to Increase Inventory Space in Graveyard Keeper 2
The main way to expand inventory space in Graveyard Keeper 2 is to purchase bags from town merchants.
- Each bag occupies one backpack slot but opens a separate inventory with either 9 or 16 slots. The net gain is therefore eight or 15 slots, respectively.
- However, bags only accept specific categories of items. For example, the Farmer’s Bag stores seeds, crops and fertiliser, while the Builder’s Bag holds building materials and kits. The player cannot put unrelated items into these bags, so choosing the right combination matters.
- On the other hand, Universal Bags from the Tailor can store all types of items, but the player needs to upgrade the Tailor Stall to access its bigger version: 4 * 4 slots.
- The perk Deep Pockets and some other mods can help increase the inventory size as well.

All Inventory Bags and Where to Buy Them
The following table lists the merchants that sell each bag, its capacity, and the items it can hold.
| Merchant | Bag type | Size | Items stored |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apothecary | Alchemist’s Bag | 16 slots | Alchemy ingredients and products |
| Vegetable Stand | Farmer’s Bag | 16 slots | Seeds, crops and fertiliser |
| Tailor | Universal Bag | 9 slots | Almost all items |
| Tailor (Tier II) | Big Universal Bag | 16 slots | Almost all items |
| Builder | Builder’s Bag | 16 slots | Building materials and kits |
| Smithy | Tool Bag | 9 slots | Tools, weapons and armour |
| Furniture Maker | Builder’s Bag | 16 slots | Building materials and kits |
| Baker | Food Bag | 9 slots | Food, drinks and edible crops |
| Fish Stand | Fisherman’s Bag | 9 slots | Fish and bait |
| Tavern | Food Bag | 9 slots | Food, drinks and edible crops |
| Brewery | Food Bag | 9 slots | Food, drinks and edible crops |
| Alchemist | Potion Bag | 9 slots | Different tipes of potions |
| Jeweler | Tool Bag | 9 slots | Tools, weapons and armour |
The most useful early purchases are the Universal Bag and Builder’s Bag. The Big Universal Bag offers even greater flexibility, but the player must upgrade the Tailor to Tier II before purchasing it. Builder’s Bag is useful once the player starts to rebuild the town, because the repair usually requires several different kinds of Furniture Kits, Wooden Kits, and so on. Therefore, it is highly recommended for the player to repair the Tailor Shop and the Builder Shop first.
The player can purchase more than one bag, such as multiple Big Universal Bags together with other bags.

Get the Deep Pockets Perk
The Smithing perk tree contains Deep Pockets, which adds five slots directly to the backpack. Unlike bags, these extra slots do not restrict the items the player can carry. This is the most straightforward way to add inventory slots in Graveyard Keeper 2.

Use Mods to Carry More Items
Two types of inventory mods can help, depending on the problem.
- Better Item Stacks increases the maximum stack size of stackable items, potentially up to 999 depending on its configuration. This reduces the number of slots consumed by materials and other stackable resources.
- Better Player Inventory is another option. It raises the inventory to 40 slots by default and allows further customisation, with a reported maximum of 300 slots.

On the other hand, using these mods can potentially tip the balance of the gameplay experience. All in all, the player may find purchasing 3 – 5 bags provides enough inventory space to finish the game. If the player is more ambitious about fixing more townhouses or building more elaborate farms and factory structures, it may require more bags.
