Sultan’s Game Ending: Your Step-By-Step Guide to Defying the Cultist God with the Sultan

The cult ending is often deemed as the most difficult Sultan’s Game ending by many players, and what’s more, it also requires the goriest events and sacrifices before reaching the end. It is fair to say that if players can play through the cult ending, they have a very good knowledge of the game and most of the characters’ stories already, because this ending demands players to have as many followers as possible to convert them. How to play through this ending, then? Is it so very different from the purist god ending? Will the Sultan join the final battle? This post provides a step-by-step guide for all the interested players to reach the Sultan’s Game defying-the-cult-god ending!

Purchase the Glimpse of God to Access Sultan’s Game Ending – Cultist God Slaying Route

To enable Sultan’s Game cultist god slaying ending, players must redeem the Glimpse of God in Fate’s Ledger first, using 40 points, which is a similar process to slaying the purist god. If players have already purchased it for the purist god slaying, they can simply make sure that this mode is activated in the Fate’s Ledger.

In order to obtain the accomplishments and earn 40 points, players must essentially play the game several times. Players will altogether receive varying numbers of points to use in the Fate’s Ledger to redeem assistance and support, contingent on which achievement is unlocked.

Moreover, there are other rewards players should redeem from Fate’s Ledger as well, especially for the cultist god slaying ending, which requires having as many followers as possible:

  1. The Final Fair-Weather Friend: Hassan can write poems for followers to read to increase their attributes.
  2. Diamond is Unbreakable: Jenna can access the Sultan’s harem and make accessories.
  3. Gratitude of the Seamstress: Makina can also increase followers’ attributes by giving them makeup.
  4. Blood is Thicker than Water: Arzuna can be converted to the cult, same like Jenna and Makina.
  5. Secret Twins: Gives players another Arzu, which is extremely useful in this ending.

Understand the Main Missions Leading to Sultan’s Game Ending – Cultist God Slaying Route

The main process of achieving the ending of slaying the cultist god is mostly the same as the purist god slaying ending, only that several steps and events are more demanding and strenuous.

8 Sections to Complete

There are mainly 8 sections that players need to complete:

  1. Upgrade the Malum in se?: The upgrade route is Malum in se?➡️ The Calling from Afar➡️ The Creator➡️ The Creeping Rot
  2. (Optional) Upgrade the Bonum in se?: The upgrade route is Bonum in se ➡️ The Voice from Above ➡️ Immaculate Purity ➡️ The Destroyer. If players have Immaculate Purity and The Creator at the same time, the event, Sacred Encounter, upgrades them to the 4th tier directly, so players do not need to collect doubts anymore in Mind Battle.
  3. Upgrade the Impure Thoughts: The upgrade route is Impure Thoughts➡️ Peeking into Darkness➡️ The Ancient Faith➡️ New World. It’d be best to finish the upgrade before having The Creator.
  4. Create a Monster: A monster is mandatory for a later event, The Sultan’s Questioning.
  5. Prepare at least 1 Aether: Having at least 1 Aether is required by the Conception event.
  6. Prepare at least 1 Troop: Having at least 1 troop is required by the Womb event if using the Conquest card.
  7. Additional Help: If Lumera becomes The Star-Souled, she can help skip 1 event in the ending battle. (🔎How to do this? Check here!)
  8. Keep One Sultan’s Card from Each Kind: Bloodshed, Conquest, Carnality, Extravagance.

3 Stages to Go Through

Similar to the purist god slaying route, there are basically 3 stages that players need to go through:

  1. Finish upgrading Malum in se and the Impure Thoughts
  2. Finish the Flower of Evil event within the 20-round time limit
  3. Meet the cultist god and defy the god

Compared to the purist god route, the Impure Thoughts is more difficult to upgrade. Due to the difficulty brought in by the Impure Thoughts, players are recommended to spend a longer time in the 1st stage and have more followers joining the team.

How to Upgrade the Impure Thoughts?

The Impure Thoughts must be upgraded to the New World before players can proceed with the Conception event triggered by the Flower of Evil event. This upgrade might take the longest time to prepare compared to other preparations, because of the number of conversions it requires.

Firstly, players need to have an Impure Thoughts card at any level to start with. One method to obtain a Peeking into Darkness (bronze-tier) is to complete the events of recruiting Badriyyah. There are other ways to get the 1st Impure Thoughts, so if players have already gotten one, they can ignore this step or complete it to get an extra bronze-tier Peeking into Darkness.

Get the 1st Impure Thoughts Card: Via Recruiting Badriyyah

Recruiting Badriyyah by completing the Night’s Shelter gives players a Peeking into Darkness card accordingly. All in all, players need to complete a series of events, leading to Night’s Shelter.

Moreover, investigating the whole plot by finishing Unsolved Murders and The Real Culprit can recruit Amur, too.

  1. News in the Bathhouse: Keep visiting the bathhouse until the event Haunted Mansion pops up near the dark alley on the map.
  2. Haunted Mansion: The normal adventure is easier, so players can send Arzu and Maggie to pass the magic & charisma ≥ 3 check. This provides Traces of Black Magic.
  3. Evil Clues: Send a follower with Traces of Black Magic to pass sociability & wisdom ≥ 1 check, and get the location of Badryyah’s hideout.
  4. Night’s Shelter: Send a follower and choose option 2. Badryyah becomes a follower and gives Peeking into Darkness. This event gives Arzu the Black Art tag as a result.
Choose the second option to recruit Badryyah with Peeping into Darkness as a reward. The White Honey Amber Orb is unnecessary for recruiting.

Convert Followers into Cultists to Get Impure Thoughts

In the worst-case scenario, players only get Impure Thoughts each time they convert a follower, and then players will need 27 followers to complete the entire upgrade. Not all the followers are convertible and can give the Impure Thoughts, thus players will need to recruit more than 27 followers. However, if players obtain the bronze-tier Peeking into Darkness directly, each bronze-tier can reduce the number of followers needed by 3 in this process.

Additionally, criminals can be converted as well.

The steadiest way of yielding the Impure Thoughts is by dragging Impure Thoughts of any level into Methinks and hosting the event Spread Cult Ideology.

  1. Spread Cult Ideology: Send Arzu with a follower, including criminals, with an Impure Thought card of any level. The result usually converts the follower and yields an Impure Thought (stone-tier) card.
  2. Headless Dragons: Wait till the Sultan is away from the court, and combine 3 Impure Thoughts cards to get 1 Peeking into Darkness, 3 Peeking into Darkness to get 1 The Ancient Faith, and finally, 3 The Ancient Faith to get 1 New World.

Some followers cannot be converted or do not give Impure Thoughts: Maggie, Masked Warrior, Roaming Swordsman, Iman, Jabal, Jawad, Adila, Nabhani, Faris, Shama with the slave tag, Alim, Gulis, Lumera, Mahir, Hassan, Lady Becky, Aziz before completing A Huge Toy, and Twin Arzu.

  • 3 Impure Thoughts ➡️1 Peeking into Darkness
  • 3 Peeking into Darkness ➡️1 The Ancient Faith
  • 3 The Ancient Faith ➡️New World

How to Upgrade Malum in se?

For one thing, Malum in se?, is the connection with the cultist god, which is only available in the Glimpse of God content. It is the opposite thoughts against Bonum in se?.

Malum in se? needs to be upgraded 3 times to unlock the cultist god slay Sultan’s Game ending, in sum. The first 2 upgrades require Arzu to bond with Malum in se? 3 times for each upgrade, and the final upgrade demands Arzu to build 3 doubts against Malum in se? to unveil the true nature of the cultist god.

The explanations below are separated into Before The Creator Level and After The Creator Level, because the events related to these two different stages and the approaches that can be taken are quite different.

Before The Creator Level

Players can only upgrade Malum in se? in the event Battle of the Mind, same as Bonum in se?.

The items, followers, or nothing that players place in for each Battle of the Mind yields different outcomes. It’d be best to put in Impure Thoughts or its upgraded cult conviction each time, which guarantees the bonding with Malum in se?.

There are 15 Battle of the Mind events in total, which means that players need to avoid wasting the Battle of the Mind events. After Malum in se? becomes The Creator, the Flower of Evil event shows up with 20 rounds of time limit for players to finish up the game.

It is also recommended to upgrade Bonum in se? with the same pace using the purist conviction. Because if players have the 3rd-tier Bonum in se? and Malum in se? at the same time, Immaculate Purity and The Creator will engage in a fight, and both Bonum in se? and Malum in se? will be upgraded to their 4th tier directly.

  • Use cult conviction to bond with Malum in se? 6 times for the 2 upgrades.
  • Recommended: Use purist conviction to bond with Bonum in se? 6 times for the 2 upgrades.

In short, players need to do 2 things before Malum in se? reaching The Creator level:

  1. Increase the Insight to trigger Battle of the Mind, but try to increase SLOWLY!
  2. Battle of the Mind: Upgrade Malum in se? with the cult conviction. 3 bondings upgrade it to 2nd tier, The Calling from Afar. Another 3 bondings upgrade it to the 3rd tier, The Creator.
  3. (Highly Recommended) Battle of the Mind: Upgrade Bonum in se? with the purist conviction as well, taking turns with the upgrade of Malum in se? 3 bondings upgrade it to 2nd tier, The Voice from Above. Another 3 bondings upgrade it to the 3rd tier, The Immaculate Purity.

After The Creator Level

At this point, the game starts the 20-round time limit with the event Flower of Evil.

There are 2 options to upgrade The Creator to The Creeping Rot, in this case:

  1. Battle of the Mind: Put Rationality to accumulate doubts 3 times to upgrade The Creator to The Creeping Rot. (🔎How to get Rationality?: Firstly, assisting Mahir in Project Investment I successfully gives Mirror of Stars. Then, drag it to Methinks to build an Observatory. Drag the Astronomy cards yielded from the Observatory to Methinks and choose to study them, finally.)
  2. Sacred Encounter: If players follow the previous recommendation and upgrade Bonum in se? to Immaculate Purity, the two gods right now will start a fight in the event Sacred Encounter. Both gods are upgraded to the 4th tier by the end of this event.
  • Opt 1: Rationality builds doubt for both thoughts.
  • Opt 2: Upgrade both thoughts to 3rd tier and have them fight each other.

How to Create a Monster?

In a word, a monster with physique ≥ 5 and combat ≥ 5 is mandatory for passing the event, The Sultan’s Questioning. Therefore, players need to prepare a monster beforehand and equip it with 3 accessories for it to pass the physique and combat checks.

After she becomes a follower, Badryyah gives Arzu the Sacrificial Ritual card accordingly. Players can henceforth drag this card to Methinks to start the Human Sacrifice.

Nayla turns into a Succubus for sure, and the cultist Nayla into Grand Succubus. Succubus’s attributes are very close to physique ≥ 5 and combat ≥ 5, simplifying the process of later passing the checks in The Sultan’s Questioning.

Gulis becomes Ancient Flayer Beast, which can pass the physique ≥ 5 and combat ≥ 5 check directly.

  1. Human Sacrifice: Sacrifice a living being (a follower, a criminal, or a slave) to complete the ritual. This ritual needs to be completed 4 times to trigger the next event. The game gives a gold-tier Abomination Summoning Ritual card after the 4th sacrifice.
  2. Summon Abomination: Drag the Abomination Summoning Ritual to Methinks. Sacrifice 1 follower to be the monster. Send 1 host who has the Black Art tag and 3 other cultist followers with 8 coins. Pass the check of charisma & magic ≥ 5.
  • Perform the sacrifice 4 times.
  • Sacrifice 1 follower to become the monster.

How to Get Aether?

Starting the event Conception after the Flower of Evil countdown starts requires 1 Aether, which is not difficult to get in Sultan’s Game.

The easiest way is to recruit Mahir, who gives 2 Aethers when joining the team. Players need to invest in Mahir’s projects twice before she joins the team.

  1. Project Investment I: Invest 5 coins. Players do not have to pass the check.
  2. Project Investment II: Invest another 5 coins. Players do not have to pass the check.
  3. Recruit Mahir: Send a follower to recruit her. She gives 2 Aethers.

If players have used the Aethers in Mahir’s long-term research, they can steal some more Aethers from the purist church.

  1. Sacred Blood Theft: After recruiting Mahir, drag her to Methinks to start the research. Mahir opens the event of stealing the Aether from the church. Send 5 followers to pass 3 rounds of checks: survival & physique ≥ 3, physique & combat ≥ 5, stealth & wisdom ≥ 5, sociability & charisma ≥ 3.
Sultan's Game ending cult god slaying route Conception event requires 1 aether to start the ritual, so players should have at least 1 in the pocket.

How to Recruit a Troop?

Players need troops that can join the team directly without the rebellion, because the cultist god slaying route is apart from the rebellion route.

The recommended troops are: Fardak’s Refugee Army and Indignant Crowd, and Marauder’s Band.

Complete the Flower of Evil & Give Birth to the Cultist God

Finally, we are at the stage of giving birth to the cultist god, The Creeping Rot! The Flower of Evil starts with The Creator, but players still need to upgrade Malum in se? to The Creeping Rot to unlock the god slaying ending.

Players need to finish the following events within 20 rounds of countdown to successfully enter the cultist god slaying battles:

Giving Birth to the God

  1. Conception: Requires Carnality card (or Stain: Faithful), New World, 1 Aether, a vessel (Arzu, Maggie, or Badryyah), a host with magic ≥ 6(Badryyah or Arzu with the Black Art tag), and 3 cultists. This event gives Embryo of Darkness, Stain: Faithful (if players do not have one yet), and 5 patience to extend the 20 rounds of countdown.
  2. Insatiable Hunger: Drag the Embryo of Darkness to Methinks. Requires the Extravagance card (or Stain: Beads), and the number of coins corresponding to the tier of Extravagance card being used. This event gives Stain: Beads, and 3 patience.
  3. Womb: Requires Conquest card (or Stain: Crown), and a troop if using the Conquest card. This event gives Stain: Crown and Pool of Blood.
  4. Blood Offering: Use Bloodshed card (or Stain: Angel). Players have to sacrifice 4 followers and present 4 cultists as the beholders. All 8 of them leave the team after the offering. This event gives Stain: Angel.
  5. The Sultan’s Questioning: Present 20 coins, a monster with physique ≥ 5 and combat ≥ 5, a cultist with charisma ≥ 10. The monster and the cultist cannot return to the team later.
  6. Final Reckoning: Send 5 followers or troops to pass the combat ≥ 5 check. This event gives back the Pool of Blood.
  7. Flower of Evil: Place in the Embryo of Darkness, the Pool of Blood, and all 4 stains. The ending battle comes after this.

Meet the Cultist God & Defy Them

The cultist god is born at the end of Flower of Evil. Now is the final stage of engaging in the battles against The Creeping Rot! The map is shifted to the ending battle map after Flower of Evil.

  1. Divine Genesis: Make the final offering, which can be a troop, urchins, or a follower with a Black Art tag. The easiest way is to send Arzu with the Black Art tag, and he will survive.
  2. Choose “Defy God” in the pop-up text.
  3. Gathering Darkness: Send 4 followers to pass 4 rounds of checks: sociability & charisma ≥ 7, magic & charisma ≥ 7, magic & survival ≥ 7, survival & physique & magic ≥ 10. The Sultan joins the fight after this event.
  4. Apocalyptic Storm: The Star-Souled skips all the checks. Otherwise, send 4 followers to pass 4 rounds of checks: charisma & survival & magic ≥ 5, physique & combat & magic ≥ 5, wisdom & sociability & magic ≥ 5, stealth & charisma & magic ≥ 5. If any of these checks is < 10, that follower dies.
  5. Nightmare’s Edge: Send 5 followers to pass 5 rounds of charisma checks: charisma ≥ 5. Some followers can skip their rounds of checks.

Conclusion: Sultan’s Game Ending – Cultist God Slaying Route

There is only 1 good ending from the Sultan’s Game ending cultist god slaying route, The Endless Journey. Players achieve this ending after finishing the event Chaos King.

In the end, Arzu survives the battle, while both the magician and the Sultan perish with The Creeping Rot. The Sultan’s card game comes to an end, which by no means brings the complex and dark sides of the humanities to an end. The darkness may return, but that is not Arzu’s concern. He leaves the town with a twisted familiar and the stain ingrained on him. No one knows Arzu’s whereabouts.

Compared to the purist god slaying ending, the cultist god slaying route is darker and more depressive, not to mention the number of sacrifices players have to make that results in this ending. Like a parallel plot to the purist god ending, the cultist god ending completes the supernatural aspect of Sultan’s Game and reaches beyond the political struggle.
