Building guest rooms is one of the best ways to generate additional income in Travellers Rest. Unlike the main tavern, where most of the focus is on serving food and drinks, guest rooms provide a separate source of income through nightly rentals, plus food and drinks. However, the player needs to reach the correct progression level and meet several requirements before a room can be rented.

When Can the Player Start Building Guest Rooms

Guest rooms become available at Reputation Level 7. This is also when the tavern’s rental system and Construction Mode become available. Construction Mode is accessed through the Construction Table, which allows the player to expand the tavern, add floor tiles, create rooms, and install doors.

The number of buildable floor tiles and guest rooms also increases as the player levels up the reputation levels. The Construction Mode interface shows how many rental rooms are currently available next to the Guest Room Door option.

The guest room is defined by placing a Guest Room Door at its entrance. There is no need to use the zone defining tool to define a guest room. This makes the door one of the most important parts of the construction process.

How to Build a Guest Room in Travellers Rest

1. The first step is to enter Construction Mode through the Construction Table. From there, the player can add floor tiles to create enough space for the room.
2. Realistically speaking, a rental room requires a minimum of six tiles for the room and two tiles for the hallway. Increasing the room space does not improve the rental price of the room, but it does provide more space for the player to place furniture and decorations.
3. Once the room has enough space, select the Guest Room Door from the Accesses section and place it at the entrance. This separates the room from the rest of the tavern and allows the space to function as a rental room.
4. After construction is complete, the player must leave Construction Mode and furnish the room in Decoration Mode. A guest room requires a Bed, Table, Chair, and Light Source. These are the basic furniture requirements that must be fulfilled before the room can operate properly. A common but often ignored problem of why an available guest room becomes unavailable is that the candle in the room has burnt out.
5. Cleanliness also matters when renting rooms. The player cannot rent out an unclean room.

Materials Required for a Guest Room

The exact construction cost depends on the size of the room and the number of tiles added. For a guest room that can function, the minimum required materials are:

• 55 Wooden Planks
• 50 Iron Nails
• 4 Mortar
• 11 Gold

The room must then be furnished with the required Bed, Table, Chair, and Light Source. A basic single bed can be purchased from Amos, while inexpensive tables, stools, and lighting options can be crafted or purchased depending on the player’s progression.
