How to Make Beer in Travellers Rest: Recipes and Basic Process
Beer is one of the first recipes that the player can learn in Travellers Rest, providing a reliable source of income while also giving the tavern more options to serve customers. However, brewing beer involves several steps, and each beer requires different ingredients for crafting, which can be quite confusing to new players. This post teaches you how to craft beer, including the common recipes and basic crafting process!
How to Get Beer Recipes
Beer recipes are unlocked as the player progresses through the game and obtains Recipe Fragments by increasing Reputation Levels. These fragments can then be used to discover new recipes.
The player can visit the cave at the back of the tavern, where the player can unlock new recipes with the Recipe Fragments. The main story quest with Mai will lead the player to this cave as well. Usually, the drinks that require lager yeasts or ale yeasts are beer recipes.
Unlocking a recipe automatically teaches the player the complete process of how to make the dish or drink. For example, unlocking Stout automatically allows the player to produce Toasted Malt at the Malting Machine.
Several basic beer recipes are available from the beginning, including Lager, Amber Ale, and Porter, while additional beers such as Dark Lager, Stout, Pilsner, and Dunkel become available through Recipe Fragments.

What Ingredients Are Needed to Make Beer in Travellers Rest
Most basic beer recipes require a combination of Malt, Hops, Yeast, and a Bucket with Water. The exact type of malt, hops, and yeast depends on the beer being produced.
For example, Lager requires:
- Malt from Barley or Wheat ×1
- Bitter or Aroma Hops ×1
- Lager Yeast ×1
- Bucket with Water ×1
Lager is then produced in the Fermentation Tank, with one batch producing 20 Lager.
More complicated drinks can work differently. Some recipes use an already-produced and -aged alcoholic drink as an ingredient instead of requiring the entire brewing process again. Whiskey Cream, for example, requires Whiskey, Milk, Vanilla, and Cocoa Bean. Since Whiskey has already been produced and aged separately, the finished Whiskey Cream does not need to go through another aging process.

First Step: Make Malt
Malt is an important ingredient in many beer recipes and needs to be prepared before brewing.
The player can make Malt using the Malting Machine. The basic Malt recipe requires two Grain, producing one Malt. The recipe is available from the beginning of the game. Different types of Grain produce different types of Malt, including Barley, Wheat, Rye, Corn, and Rice.
To prepare Lager ingredients, for example, two Barley or Wheat can first be processed in the Malting Machine to create the required Malt. The player can either grow Barley and Wheat with seeds from Rhia or purchase the grains at Lia.

Second Step: Brew Beer
Once the player has prepared the ingredients, the next step is to use the Fermentation Tank. This step requires:
- The Malt to be ready from the first step.
- The player can obtain the hops from either Lia (No growing needed) or Rhia (Requires growing the seeds).
- Amos sells all kinds of yeast.
Place the required ingredients into the available crafting system and select the desired beer recipe. For Lager, the Fermentation Tank combines the Malt, Hops, Lager Yeast, and Bucket with Water to produce the finished drink.
The basic Lager recipe takes 3 hours to craft and requires 5 Heat. The same general process applies to other beers, although their ingredients and crafting times can vary.

Third Step: Age Beer
Freshly brewed beer is not immediately ready to serve. Most drinks need to be placed in an Aging Barrel before they can be served to customers or used to fulfill certain orders.
Beer progresses through five aging stages:
- Unaged
- Normal🟢: Takes 1 day
- Young🔵: Takes 1 day, and the price will increase by 10% from the Normal quality base price.
- Reserve🟣: Takes 1 day, and the price will increase by 20% from the Normal quality base price.
- Grand Reserve🟠: Takes 2 days, and the price will increase by 30% from the Normal quality base price.
(Note that the price increase percentage is only for reference. The exact increased price percentage is slightly different for each beer.)
For basic beer production, the complete workflow is therefore:
Grain → Malt → Fermentation Tank → Beer → Aging Barrel → Finished Beer
For the good reviews and reputation of the tavern, nine aging barrels are usually enough for providing the variety of drinks. 3 for beers, 3 for liquors, and 3 barrels for aging wines.
