You are not the only newbie looking for yeast in Travellers Rest! While the player can forage or produce most of the ingredients for cooking and brewing, yeast is only available at Amos’s shop. And the game has made it so that different recipes require different types of yeast – all the more complicated for the player! Here is your one-stop guide on all the yeast types in Travellers Rest and how to get yeast.

Six Types of Yeasts in Travellers Rest

There are currently six types of yeast in Travellers Rest: Ale Yeast, Lager Yeast, Wine Yeast, Distilling Yeast, Champagne Yeast, and Kitchen Yeast. Each serves a different purpose in the game’s cooking or brewing systems.

Ale Yeast	Ale Yeast is primarily used for brewing ales in the Fermentation Tank. It is required for drinks such as Amber Ale, Porter, and Stout. For example, an Amber Ale requires Malt from Rye or Corn, Citra or Dual Hops, Ale Yeast, and a Bucket with Water.
Lager Yeast	Lager Yeast is used for lager-style drinks. It is required for Lager, Dark Lager, and Rice Lager, etc. The basic Lager recipe uses Malt from Barley or Wheat, Bitter or Aroma Hops, Lager Yeast, and a Bucket with Water.
Wine Yeast	Wine Yeast is mainly used in the Brewing Barrel. It is required for drinks including Red Wine, White Wine, Rose Wine, Cider, etc. It can therefore become particularly useful once the tavern begins producing a wider range of drinks rather than relying primarily on beer.
Distilling Yeast	Distilling Yeast is primarily associated with the Distillery and more advanced alcohol production. It is used in recipes such as Vodka and Fruit Liqueur.
Champagne Yeast	Only available during the game’s Christmas event. Currently not available.
Kitchen Yeast	Kitchen Yeast is used for food production, such as Bread Dough and Cheese.

Where to Buy Yeast in the Game

The main source for yeast is Amos, the tavern keeper at The Last Swig in the southwest part of Rilia’s commercial district. The player cannot craft any yeast yet in the game, so Amos remains the source for these ingredients.

Amos sells a variety of tavern-related ingredients, brewing equipment, recipes, furniture, and decor. His shop is open Monday through Sunday from 08:00 to 23:00.

It is more convenient to purchase 3 – 5 yeast of each kind in one go, to avoid travelling back and forth between the tavern and Amos’s shop. Moreover, it is better to buy twice as much Ale Yeast or Lager Yeast as Distilling Yeast and Wine Yeast. While the player can place most of the beverages into the kegs, taps are only for beer. Preparing more different types of beer can better improve the drink variety.
