Fields of Mistria Faceted Rock Gem Guide: How to Get It for the Fire Seal
Faceted Rock Gems are one of the many artifacts you’ll discover while exploring the mines in Fields of Mistria. Although they aren’t common, you’ll eventually need them for breaking the fire seal and museum donations. If you’ve just picked up your first Faceted Rock Gem and aren’t sure whether to sell it or save it, this guide explains where to find them, how to farm them efficiently, and what they’re used for.
How to Get and Farm Faceted Rock Gems
The primary way to obtain the Faceted Rock Gem in Fields of Mistria is by digging the dig spots in the Deep Earth levels (floors 40 – 60) in the mine.
In Fields of Mistria, the mine levels that can be reached via elevator (floors 45, 50, 55) will not change the layout every time the player enters the level. On the other hand, the rest of the level refreshes every time upon entering. While the layouts of floors 45, 50, and 55 do not change, the game does refresh the dig spots, ores, and gems the next time the player enters. Therefore, there are two main ways to dig out the Faceted Rock Gems:
- Keep entering and exiting Floor 50 and Floor 55. There is one dig spot at Floor 50 and another one at Floor 55. The player simply needs to take the elevator and keep switching between these two floors to refresh the resources.
- If you tried the first method several times and there is no Faceted Rock Gem spawning, then you will have to explore the rest of the Deep Earth levels (40 – 60) for other dig spots. The game seems to have set the chance of getting rare items at elevator-reachable levels to be lower than other levels. It is rarer to see uncommon artifacts and gems at these levels.
Mind that killing mine monsters near the dig spots will destroy the dig spots.

How to Explore Mine Levels Faster for the Faceted Rock Gems
To find dig spots throughout levels 40 – 60 for the Faceted Rock Gems, the player may need some tricks. The player needs to reach each level faster and to check out whether there is a dig spot at the level.
Here are a few tips for exploring the mine efficiently:
- Break all the stones that are easy to break and avoid monsters. The more stones the player breaks, the higher the chance that the ladder to the next floor will spawn. (Unlike the mine in Grimshire where the player needs to find the ladder at a fixed location, Fields of Mistria has set the ladder to spawn by chance. So, there is no need to explore the entire floor. The player only needs to break all the stones near them. And there’s a high chance that the ladder will spawn right away.)
- There is no need to go home before 2 AM. Fields of Mistria’s penalty mechanism is not as strict as Stardew Valley. Staying at the mine overnight will simply teleport the player back home. The player will sleep over with Health and Stamina not fully recovered, and that’s it.
- Bring enough food to restore Health and Stamina during long mining trips.
- Upgrade your Pickaxe to break rocks more quickly.

What’s the Use of Faceted Rock Gems in Fields of Mistria
Faceted Rock Gems in Fields of Mistria have two major uses.
- Breaking The Fire Seal: This is the main use of Faceted Rock Gem, as one of the materials needed to break the fire seal and open the gateway to the mine level beyond 60.
- Museum Donations: Faceted Rock Gem is also an artifact that the player can donate to the Museum.

How About Selling Faceted Rock Gems
In Fields of Mistria, Faceted Rock Gem is mainly used for the quest of Breaking the Fire Seal. After the player finishes the quest and if there are extra Faceted Rock Gems, they can choose either to donate them to the Museum or to sell them. One Faceted Rock Gem’s price is 75 Tesserae, which is not a lot compared to other resources that the player can gather in the mine. But no doubt, mining is one of the most profitable activities in the early game of Fields of Mistria.
