Fields of Mistria Refined Stone: How to Get and Use the Stone Refinery

Refined Stone is an important crafting material in Fields of Mistria, but the player won’t be able to make it during the early game. Instead, the player will need to progress through the town’s development and eventually unlock the Stone Refinery. Once the refinery becomes available, those piles of Stone can be turned into Refined Stone and other useful materials. Here’s everything you need to know about Refined Stone and the Stone Refinery.

When Can the Player Craft Refined Stone in Fields of Mistria

The player can craft Refined Stone in Fields of Mistria after unlocking the Stone Refinery through the story quest of the same name. The Stone Refinery becomes available when you reach Town Rank Level 50 and complete the “Stone Refinery” story quest. The refinery itself is a production workbench located just inside the Mines.

The quest requires you to talk to Adeline at the entrance of the Mines and contribute materials to the Donation Box next to the mine.

The materials required are:

  • 200 Wood
  • 400 Stone
  • 20 Sap
  • 5,000 Tesserae

Once you complete the quest, the Stone Refinery is unlocked, together with a teleport spot from the mine back to the farm.

Fields of Mistria stone refinery quest details show the player needs to donate Tesserae, woods, stones, and saps.
Leveling up the Town Rank unlocks many useful mechanisms, including the Stone Refinery.

How to Use the Stone Refinery

Refined Stones

Once you’ve completed the Stone Refinery quest, you can find the refinery inside the Mines.

The Stone Refinery works similarly to other processing stations in Fields of Mistria. Select the material you want to produce, add the required ingredients, and start the refining process.

For Refined Stone, the recipe is very simple:

  • 10 Stone → 1 Refined Stone

Refined Stone is used in a wide variety of higher-level Woodcrafting recipes and is also required for several buildings and upgrades, especially in the mid- and late-game phases.

Other Materials

The Stone Refinery also lets you turn Stone into several other useful materials, including:

  • Essence Stones
  • Wood
  • Hard Wood
  • Clay
  • Sod
  • Peat
  • Shards
  • Shard Mass
  • Glass
  • Grass Seeds
  • Hay
  • Corals
  • Crystals
  • Obsidians
  • Rubies
  • Sapphires
  • Emeralds
  • Diamonds

This makes the refinery much more useful than simply being a machine for producing Refined Stone. It provides a solution to the situation that the player may have too many stones from mining, but also have difficulty looking for other materials at the same time.

Should You Save Your Stone in the Early Game

Mining produces a huge amount of stone, and it can be tempting to sell the excess because stone sells for 2 Tesserae each, not to say that the early game phase is known for its difficulty in earning money.

However, stone becomes considerably more useful later. The player can start considering storing stones instead of selling them after finishing the main quest in mines. Because the rest of the gameplay would be mostly farming, ranching, and working on the automation of the farm, which require wood, stones, and other materials that can be easily made with the Stone Refinery.

Honestly, it does not make much sense to make grass seeds, hay, and some other materials from refining stones. The Stone Refinery is more like an in-game mechanism just to solve the issue that the player can obtain stones way easier compared to other important materials. But since it is so handy and useful, it is definitely recommended for the player to raise the Town Rank and unlock this function as soon as possible.
