Fields of Mistria Sprinklers: How to Get Water Sprite Statues

Fields of Mistria does not use traditional sprinklers. Instead, automatic watering is handled by Water Sprite Statues, manifestations of the magical section in the game. These statues automatically water nearby crops without consuming the player’s Stamina, yet the game does not offer much hint on how to get them. Here’s the guide on how to obtain both normal- and large-sized Water Sprite Statues, and the best timing and layout to install them.

How to Get the Water Sprite Statue

The regular Water Sprite Statue (covering 2 tiles radius), basically the sprinklers in Fields of Mistria, is from a Golden Treasure Box inside the Beach Cave. The player can find the Beach Cave by swimming northeast from the beach.

Opening the cave requires the player to use Dragon’s Breath, available after the player finishes the quest “Breaking the Fire Seal”. Once the player has obtained the recipe, they can craft the statue with Woodcrafting at level 20.

The recipe requires:

• 10 Refined Stone
• 50 Essence
• Ash Mushroom / Purple Mushroom / Temple Flower / Sea Grapes / Thorn Vine * 3 (Depending on how the player wants the statues to look). Temple Flower and Thorn Vine regularly spawn in the Deep Woods, easier for the player to obtain compared to other materials in the mines.

How to Get the Large Water Sprite Statue

The Large Water Sprite Statue (covering 3 tiles radius) is a later upgrade. It requires the Big Water Sprites Woodcrafting skill perk, which becomes available at Woodcrafting Level 60 (The top level). Once the player unlocks the perk, they can craft the Large Water Sprite Statue at Woodcrafting Level 30.

The recipe requires:

• 15 Refined Stone
• 75 Essence
• Breath of Flame / Lava Chestnuts / Flame Pepper * 3 (Depending on how the player wants the statues to look)

How to Make Water Sprite Statues Work

Water Sprite Statues require an Essence Stone to operate. After placing the statue, the player can apply an Essence Stone to it. Then the statue will automatically water crops within its range each day. The player can produce Essence Stones at the Stone Refinery.

• The regular statue covers a 2-tile radius, equivalent to a 5×5 area around the statue (minus the one block where the statue is placed).
• The Large Water Sprite Statue covers a 3-tile radius, giving it a 7×7 area (minus the one block where the statue is placed).

Best Farm Layout for Placing Sprinklers in Fields of Mistria

• The regular Water Sprite Statue works particularly well with the Small Greenhouse. The Small Greenhouse has an internal growing area of 5×5 spaces, exactly matching the regular Water Sprite Statue’s 2-tile radius. This makes the two systems a natural combination. One statue can cover the greenhouse’s entire growing area without requiring multiple watering devices.
• The Large Water Sprite Statue is more suitable for outdoor farming. The statue fits awkwardly with the Large Greenhouse size. Yes, outdoor farming has season restriction. However, the player can ride the horse and harvest crops much faster outdoors, because the greenhouse does not allow the player to ride a horse.

Generally speaking, the best combination is the regular Water Sprite Statue with the Small Greenhouse, not just because they match sizes, but also because the player can craft as many Water Sprite Statues with Temple Flowers and Thorn Vines as they want without going through the repetitive work in the mines again.

The Biggest Problem With Early-Game Farming

Water Sprite Statues are extremely useful, but their availability can make large-scale early farming surprisingly inefficient.

1. Without the Beach Cave statue, the player needs to water most crops manually every day. Watering a large field can consume a significant amount of Stamina, leaving less available for mining, fishing, chopping wood, clearing the farm, and other activities.
2. There is also a major difference between players who explore the Beach early and those who do not. If the player does not progress down to the Lava Caves in the mine and does not notice the Beach Cave (which is pretty well hidden), the Large Water Sprite Statue cannot simply be used as an early replacement. Its Big Water Sprites perk requires Woodcrafting Level 60, making it a much later solution.
