The system is fairly straightforward, especially compared with the farming, mining, and crafting systems in Fields of Mistria. However, there are a few things worth knowing. When Can You Unlock Dating in Fields of Mistria

You can unlock dating in Fields of Mistria when you reach 8 hearts with a romanceable character.

1. Before you can date someone, you first need to build your relationship with them through normal friendship activities such as talking to them and giving gifts.
2. At 8 hearts, you’ll unlock that character’s 8-heart event. During this event, you’ll eventually be given a choice between continuing the relationship as friends or pursuing a romantic relationship.
3. Choose the romantic option if you want to date them.

After you have the first dating partner, Elsie will visit your farm and explain how the dating system works. She’ll also introduce you to the Date Inspiration system.

Usually, the player will unlock the dating option with Eiland, Juniper, and Caldarus first if they are following the story quests timeline. The player will need to reach 8 hearts with both Eiland and Juniper to continue breaking the final seal of the mine. As for Caldarus, the player’s relationship will reach 6 hearts with him directly after he transforms into human shape.

Can You Date or Marry Multiple Characters

Yes. You can date multiple characters at the same time. Fields of Mistria doesn’t force you to choose one romantic partner as soon as you start dating. You can reach 8 hearts with multiple romance candidates and choose the romantic option during each of their 8-heart events.

However, there is an important limitation:

You can only marry one character.

Dating multiple villagers is therefore useful if you want to explore the romantic dialogues with them and collect the dating photos before deciding who you ultimately want to marry. Once you move toward marriage, the game treats marriage as the point where you make your final choice.

How to Get More Dating Plans

After you unlock dating, you’ll start encountering Date Inspiration Items. These items are used to unlock different types of dates. Rather than having every date available immediately, Fields of Mistria gradually gives you opportunities to discover new Date Inspiration Items through different activities.

The game’s dating tutorial explains that Date Inspiration Items can be found through various activities such as digging, mining, and fishing, and can also be sold by certain vendors.

There are currently 6 dating plans:

• Bath Soap: Available at Wheedle’s Stall after the player finishes upgrading the Saturday Market. (Very pricey. This will probably be the last one the player can unlock…)
• Dollhouse Bench: Dropped from The Eastern Road dig spots.
• Inn Menu: Given by Elsie after she introduces the dating system.
• Lovely Seashell: Dropped when the player fishes at the beach.
• Picnic Set: Given by Elsie upon unlocking The Deep Woods.
• Rough Gemstone: Dropped from the Treasure Chests in The Mines.

Once you obtain a Date Inspiration Item, use it from your inventory to unlock the corresponding date type.

An important detail is that you don’t need to find the same inspiration item repeatedly. Once you’ve unlocked a particular type of date, you can use that date again.

How to Initiate a Date

Once you’re officially dating a character and have unlocked at least one date type, you can invite them on a date. Dates are a weekend activity. You can ask your dating partner out on Saturday or Sunday, with each partner generally being available for one date per week. If you’re dating two characters, you can use the two weekend days for two different dates.

To ask a partner to be on a date, simply come up to them, invite them to a date, and choose a dating plan. Then the player will go on a date with the partner immediately. The dating option only pops up during the weekends.

What Do You Get From Dating

Dating provides several different rewards, and relationship progression is probably the most useful one.

1. Relationship Increase: Dates give you a significant increase in your relationship with the character you’re dating. (More significant increase after 1.0.7 update)
2. Photo Cards: Another major reward from dating is Photo Cards. When you complete your date, you’ll receive a commemorative photo. These photos can be displayed on the walls of your house, giving you a permanent memento of your date. However, the player cannot get the same photo repeatedly with the same partner using the same dating plan.
3. Other Rewards: Depending on the dating inspiration that the player has chosen, the player will get different forageables and dishes as an additional reward after the date.

How Good Is the Dating System in Fields of Mistria

The dating system in Fields of Mistria is quite simple at the moment. Compared with the game’s more involved farming, ranching, and mining systems, dating doesn’t have a huge amount of mechanical complexity.

The dates bring the player to dialogues and a cutscene, and end with the rewards. And it can also feel somewhat generic when dating different partners. Some players may find the everyday conversation with the partners more interesting than the dating dialogues.
