Zombie making is when the player can transit to the mid game phase and gradually build up the automation system in Graveyard Keeper 2. Creating a zombie requires several steps, and the game does not explain the entire process at once. This guide explains how to make zombies in Graveyard Keeper 2, from unlocking the Resurrection Lab to increasing the number and quality of zombies the player can have.

If you are confused about how to make zombies in Graveyard Keeper 2, the first thing you need to know is the Resurrection Lab, which is the key to unlocking the tech as well.

1. The first step toward making a zombie is gaining access to the Resurrection Lab. The player needs to open the old door at the southwest corner of the Morgue following Albert’s questline before the resurrection process becomes available.
2. Once the player gains access to the lab, they can use the Resurrection Table to prepare a corpse for resurrection. The game locks the Resurrection Table tech and Bronze Collars tech in the Tech Tree until the player open the gate to the Resurrection Lab.

The Resurrection Lab also gives the player some supplies when it first becomes available. The player receives 3 Reanimation Liquids and 3 Bronze Collars. This means that the player can create the first few zombies without immediately needing to craft these items.

Technically, this means the player can begin creating their own zombies relatively early. However, producing zombies consistently requires further tech, such as high-level collars and Reanimation Liquid tech, particularly through completing Gunter’s questline.

Body Condition & Quality of Zombie Making in Graveyard Keeper 2

Zombie Needs Complete Organ Set

The corpse used to make a zombie needs to have all of its body parts. If any body part is missing, the player cannot use that corpse to create a zombie. This makes the Autopsy Table particularly important, because organs removed from other corpses can be used to complete the body that the player wants to resurrect.

For example, if the intended zombie corpse is missing an organ, the player can take that organ from another body at the Autopsy Table and put it into the corpse being prepared for resurrection.

Keeping spare organs can therefore make zombie preparation much easier. Instead of relying on a single perfect corpse, the player can use parts from several bodies to prepare the corpse that will eventually become a zombie.

Body Quality (Red Skull Points) Decide the Zombie Perk Cap

The quality of the body determines how useful the resulting zombie can be. For zombie creation, the player should pay particular attention to the corpse’s Red Skull Points. The higher the number of red skull points, the more perks the player can unlock for that zombie (which technically means that that zombie will have more potentials to do more complicated and high mastery level work).

• The player can increase the Red Skull Points of a corpse by removing low level body parts and replacing them with high level body parts from other zombies during autopsy.
• Embalming the body can also increase its Red Skull Points, allowing the player to prepare a stronger zombie before resurrection.
• The Nun’s side quest provides another way to improve body quality. Completing her quest about cleaning the donkey can upgrade the quality of the bodies several times. Then the future corpses will have higher White and Red Skull points and better organs. (The player can also decide how many bodies get sent to the Graveyard per week after completing this side quest.)

(Note that the quality of the Graveyard depends on the White Skull Points instead. Therefore, a corpse with low White Skull Points that would not be ideal for the Graveyard can still become valuable as a zombie if it has a high number of Red Skull Points.)

Resurrection Materials: Collar and Reanimation Liquids

Zombie Collar

The player needs a Zombie Collar to resurrect a corpse. The type of collar required depends on the number of Red Skull Points on the body.

The three collar requirements are:

• Bronze Collar: 0–5 Red Skull Points (Recipe unlocks in the Tech Tree with the access to the Resurrection Lab)
• Gold Collar: 0–10 Red Skull Points
• Steel Collar: 0–99 Red Skull Points

The player therefore needs to match the collar to the quality of the corpse being resurrected. For example, a corpse with five red skull points can use a Bronze Collar. Yet, a corpse with eight red skull points requires a Gold Collar.

This becomes particularly important during Albert’s later quest. This quest requires the player to submit a zombie with 8 Red Skull Points. Because the zombie has eight red skull points, the player needs to craft a Gold Collar to complete the requirement.

Reanimation Liquid

The next requirement is Reanimation Liquid. The player unlocks this tech later down the main quest after the Resurrection Lab restoration.

Gunter gives the player the recipe after completing the Necronomicon mission. After retrieving the book from Gunter, the player needs to study Tin, Ash, and Zombie Goo before being able to properly work toward crafting the liquid. To craft it, the player needs to build Laboratory II, which allows combining three ingredients.

This is where Gunter’s questline becomes particularly important for long-term zombie production. The Resurrection Lab provides the player with three Reanimation Liquids when it is first unlocked, but that supply will eventually run out. Learning the recipe allows the player to produce more Reanimation Liquid and continue creating zombies rather than relying only on the initial supply.

When to Resurrect Zombies in Graveyard Keeper 2

The player cannot resurrect a zombie on any day. Zombie resurrection can only take place once on the Envy Day, the one with the green color sign.

This means the player needs to prepare maximum four corpses in one week and gather all the required materials before the Envy Day arrives. Once the player prepares all the corpses on the Resurrection Table, the player can use the device at the center of the room to resurrect all the bodies in the room in one go.

Free Zombies From Albert and Gunter

The player does not need to create every zombie at the start. There are several zombies that the game’s quests give to the player as rewards upon completion.

1. Albert gives the player 2 zombies after the player finish creating the Dream Dust, providing an early source of zombie workers.
2. Later, Gunter gives the player 3 more zombies after helping her retrieve the cards.

This means the player can obtain 5 zombies for free through these questlines before needing to explore how to self make zombies.

Increase Zombie Amount Limit Through PR

The number of zombies the player can have is limited. Some players encounters problems with making Albert’s 8 Red Skull Points zombie because they have already owned 6 zombies (the initial limit).

To increase the limit, the player needs to complete Gunter’s PR quest and activate the News Board. This allows the player to have more zombies available as the zombie workforce expands.

Failing to activate the News Board and exceeding the limit cause low opinions from the villagers and affect the success rate of the sermons, which can be quite serious because sermons are the main ways to earn Faith and money in Graveyard Keeper 2.

The Earliest Point to Craft Your Own Zombie

Technically speaking, the earliest point the player can craft their own zombie is after finishing Albert’s quest to gain access to the Resurrection Lab.

The Resurrection Lab gives the player:

• 3 Reanimation Liquids
• 3 Bronze Collars

This means the player already has the basic supplies required to create three zombies once the rest of the resurrection requirements are met.

To learn how to self-craft Reanimation Liquid, the player needs to reach 30 relationship with Gunter and obtain her Necronomicon book. This progression eventually gives the player access to the recipe and makes continued zombie production possible.

The distinction between these two stages is important. The Resurrection Lab provides the earliest opportunity to make a zombie, while Gunter’s Necronomicon and PR progression provide the route toward repeatedly making Reanimation Liquid and producing more zombies.
